J.E. Hoke Slaughter

Scenic Hudson Land Trust Board Member

Hoke is private real estate investor who has been active in the Hudson Valley. He retired from Morgan Stanley in 2017, where his entire 26-year career was focused on real estate, within both investment management and investment banking. Most recently, he was a senior officer of Morgan Stanley Real Estate Investing (MSREI) and co-portfolio manager of MSREI’s two global real estate funds. Prior to that, he was head of MSREI’s Asia region for seven years and, before that, chairman of the firm’s real estate investment banking group and a vice chairman of the firm’s investment banking division. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley in 1990, he worked for Gerald D. Hines Interests in New York City and, before that, for Michael Graves, Architect and Alan Chimacoff, Architect, both in Princeton, New Jersey. He is a member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and most recently was on the board of ULI Asia. He was awarded a bachelor’s degree in architecture from Princeton University in 1983 and an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1990. He lives in Bronxville, Westchester County, with his wife, Laurel Beckett Slaughter, and two daughters.
