Ned is a retired investment banker. He spent 33 years at Dillon, Read & Co. Inc. and successor companies, where he was a managing director in corporate finance. He is a member of the board of the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival; a member of the board of the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference; the President of the Early Music Foundation of New York; a member of the Board of Advisors of the European Institute at Columbia University; a member of the Advisory Board of the Constitution Marsh Audubon Center and Sanctuary in Garrison, NY; and a Director Emeritus and former Chair of the board of American Rivers. Ned and his wife, Martha C. Howell, live in New York City; Garrison, Putnam County; and Barton, Vermont, and both enjoy hiking, biking, and skiing. They have twin sons who are both outdoors enthusiasts.
