Expert says proposal that complies with master plan is economically viable
Astonished that the Town of Lloyd, Ulster County, where he lives, is the only community along the Hudson that doesn’t offer residents a place to connect with the river, Matt Smith did something about it. He spearheaded a 14-year campaign to create Highland Landing Park. Soon his dream will be realized. With Scenic Hudson’s help, the town is purchasing a former riverside fuel terminal. When complete, the 1.7-acre park will feature a riverwalk, a boat launch, an education center and space to fish and picnic.
- The EPA presented its highest accolade to PCB project manager Rich Schiafo for helping accelerate a PCB cleanup. Long delayed by GE, project construction is finally underway.
