The City of Beacon and the Beacon Conservation Advisory Council (CAC) are co-sponsoring the launch of Energize Beacon in Scenic Hudson's River Center. Energize Beacon, a program funded by a New York State grant, helps homeowners make intelligent decisions that increases comfort, reduces energy waste and saves money on utility and fuel oil (or propane) bills.
Staff from Energize and RUPCO—an affordable housing advocate and innovative community developer in the Hudson Valley currently working on $75 million worth of real estate development, including projects in Kingston and Newburgh—are organizing the event. It will feature an informative building science presentation by the Energize NY Energy Coach. A question and answer session for attending homeowners will follow. Homeowners can also sign up to get a full range of direct support at zero cost from the Energize NY team. Fully accredited and vetted Energize NY Comfort Corps contractors will also be on hand to answer additional homeowner questions. The lecture will provide homeowners with information about ice dams, the house as a system, and the deeper science behind energy efficiency and New York State's Home Performance with ENERGY STAR program. Homeowners will also learn about the free (over 90% of all Beacon homeowners will qualify) or reduced cost assessment, state incentives and easy low-interest rate financing.
